Share Your Knowledge and Earn GISP Points for Presenting
Submit an abstract for a presentation at the TNGIC East Tennessee Regional GIS Conference. This free one-day event brings our communities together to learn from each other and build on GIS technology. This event will provide hands-on demonstrations of GPS and GIS technologies as well as cartographic design.

Submissions Should Include:
  • Author/Presenter Name(s)
  • Presentation Title with Brief Abstract
  • Presenter Category (General or Vendor)
  • Presenter Biography

Submission Guidelines:
  • Authors will present in a 20 minute live presentation as part of a moderated session.
  • The allocated presentation time of 20 minutes will be adhered to strictly. Please be courteous to the moderators and other presenters.
  • Your abstract title may not exceed 10 words.
  • Your abstract must be in electronic format, may not exceed 1 MB, and cannot be longer than 150 words.
  • Do not write in all CAPITAL LETTERS. Remember, the information you enter is used for publishing purposes (e.g., Web site, agenda, CD-ROM).
  • All Paper Submissions must be in electronic format and presentations must be in English.
  • No bullet points or numbering should be used.

Presenter Category
There will be two categories of presentations this year – General and Vendor. This will give the vendors an opportunity to showcase their products or services. Vendor tracks can be commercial in content; general tracks should not be commercial in content. Both categories will be considered for presentations and mixed into the agenda schedule. Vendor presentations will have the “Vendor Presentation” designation in the agenda. PLEASE DESIGNATE YOUR PRESENTATION AS “VENDOR” WHERE APPLICABLE.

Important Information
Abstracts will be published on the event Web site and Agenda. This year's conference planning committee will evaluate all abstracts and make selections based on topic, content, and time available. A detailed program of presentations and events will be provided prior to the conference. Projector equipment will be provided. Please bring your laptop.

CONTEST RULES:
Each entry must be a map.
  • Maps presenter will need to provide an easel and all materials necessary to display the map.
  • Map sizes should not be larger than 36 X 60 in.
  • Maps are to be checked in at the conference registration table.
  • Award winner will be announced at the end of the conference.
  • Prize to be determined.
  • Since the contest is Viewer’s Choice there is no need to submit a PDF of your map ahead of time. However, please fill out the form and return it to the Map Gallery Coordinators. This will ensure we allow enough space at the facility.

2017 TNGIC Middle Regional Pre-Conference Training
Introduction to Lidar Data Utilizing ESRI ArcGIS

It is an exciting time in the Tennessee GIS world! The 27 Cumberland and 19 East county USGS 3DEP projects have been delivered and are hosted through TNGIC. The Mid/West TN USGS 3DEP project is slated to be delivered soon. The data is here and this training will help you get started using it! It is an introductory course and will focus on understanding more about Lidar data, its products, use cases, and the capabilities within ESRI ArcGIS. This will be a presentation style course with live demonstrations. Handouts will also be provided.

The course will cover the following:
- The collection and production aspects of Lidar data
- 3DEP program pertinent specifications and deliverables
- Lidar data products and use case scenarios
- Capabilities and Licensing for ESRI products
- Using Lidar data with ESRI ArcGIS
o Point cloud navigation
o Classification symbology and manipulation
o LAS Dataset workflows
o Raster and mosaic Dataset workflows
o Contour generation
o DSM generation
- Data access and alternative software

​West Regional Forum

The West TN Forum will be held at the STAR Center in Jackson

​Time: 9am - 4pm
​Lunch is provided.

​The Forum will be held on Wednesday, October 18 and is free of charge. All attendees of all skill levels and experience with GIS are welcome. Lunch is provided. Presentations are being sought and are expected to be in the 30-45 minute range from all different use areas of GIS. Pre-registration is requested so that we may plan meals.
