GIS SPECIALIST SR

The City of Franklin has a vacancy for a GIS (Geographic Information System) Specialist Senior.  Responsibilities include designing, implementing, maintaining & organizing activities involving GIS spatial/attribute components; coordinating & managing GIS projects, ensuring accuracy, integrity & availability of GIS data; providing technical assistance to GIS database users, assisting in training employees in developing, utilizing & applying GIS; coordinating & developing accuracy, integrity & structure of spatial/attribute data necessary to support GIS functions; & maintaining the accuracy of GIS base maps & developing standard base maps for ready reproduction & distribution.

Minimum Requirements:  AS degree in Engineering Technology, Geography, Geoscience, Computer Science or Information Technology with minimum 5 years GIS experience and/or computer aided drafting.  Proven competency in ESRI software-Arc/Info & ArcView is a must.  Certificate of competency in CAD and/or GIS based program preferred.  $44,324/yr, plus excellent benefits.

POSITION SUMMARY:

           Performs various GIS mapping functions as required by the Engineering Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.              Posts work orders to system maps using CAD and editing in ArcMap environment.

2.              Generates CAD/GIS maps from system maps and the geodatabase.

3.              Plots and copies CAD/GIS drawings.

4.              Operates GPS Units to collect field attribute data for electrical system.

5.              Maintains construction drawings as needed for the Cooperative and/or contractors.

6.              Edits databases linked to CAD drawings and an ArcSDE geodatabase.

7.              Represents the Engineering Department as required.

GIS Specialist Needed

MarketGraphics Research Group, Inc., a new home research company, is seeking a GIS Specialist, responsible for managing and maintaining mapping projects.

This person must be well organized and able to work within a production schedule, in coordination with our small team.  Attention to detail and producing accurate maps is critical.

This position will require someone to have a minimum of 2 years GIS experience and be advanced in the use of ARCView 9.2.  Additionally, the understanding of Access, Excel and Word will be a plus.
